Russia and the United States found a common ground
RF and USA
Against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia and the United States are considering resuming communication over an agreement on measures to develop the reduction and limitation of strategic offensive weapons. This statement was made by Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Control over the Functions of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Yermakov.
“The issue of waiver of inspection continues through the bilateral international consultative commission on the treaty. Due to the confidential nature of its activities, the parties do not disclose the details of the discussion, ”he briefly commented in an interview with TASS.
The document (START, START-3) is expected to be pending in 2011. According to the statement, both states committed to reduce their nuclear arsenal so that in 7 years the amount of spending will not exceed 700 ballistic missiles, 1,550 warheads and 800 heavy and non-deployed warheads. In 2021, Russia had 517 ballistic missiles, while the US had 651.
Russia launched a special operation authorized to denazify and denationalize Ukraine on February 24. Many countries, including the United States, have introduced strict compliance against the Russian Federation, but the agreement on measures to further expand and limit the strategic volumes of offensive weapons is still coming to an end.
