Russians increased the level of digital culture by 6% over the year, but Russia still remains in the penultimate place in the ranking
According to data According to Microsoft’s annual study, Russia ranked second among the countries with the worst Digital Civility Index (DCI) – according to statistics, the risk of encountering threats in the Internet environment in Russia was 74%. I am glad that over the past year it has fallen by 6%. On average, the DCI in the world is 65% – it has been at risk by 2% over the past year.
The majority of Russians (70%) believe that the increase in the number of cases of increasing the level of remoteness: only 29% remembered the negative manifestations associated with explicit online meetings and 24% encountered similar difficulties in online lessons. At the same time, the excess of the number of online risks, according to qualified scientific networks, was noted by 67% of enterprises and 77% of students.
The most active positive dynamics of decline was noted in the category of “unwanted communication” – here the risks over the past year decreased from 70.6% to 63.7%, but the time has not yet come to rest on our laurels, because in absolute terms, Russia has so far stopped at 21st place out of 22 participating countries – below only Colombia. In first place in the Netherlands with a score of 52%.
The number of attacks and negative comments increased by 8%, and 22% of Russians believe that with almost every online access they encounter Internet risks, and almost every second is represented on the Web – 48% of respondents. But citizens do not lose heart, and 60% of respondents said that now they are less upset about such occasions.
It is possible to raise the level of digital culture with the help of various educational events, 86% of Russians are sure; in addition, 70% believe that with proper moderation in social networks, it will be possible to improve the culture of communication. Finally, it is worth noting that the observed perception of Internet culture by Russians is spent with objective indicators of progress: despite the actual positive dynamics, 53% of respondents said that nothing had changed in this area since the start of the pandemic, and another 30% said that they had only become older .
