Gasoline in Portugal more expensive 17 cents/liter than the EU average in the last quarter of 2021?
“Thank you, gentlemen of government. Gasoline in Portugal 17 cents per liter more expensive than the EU average in the fourth quarter”, reads the publish 7 February on Facebook, reported as false or misleading.
That same day, the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) published the “EU-27 Fuel Price Bulletin“, referring to fourth quarter of 2021.
According to ERSE data on the sale offer 95th quarter of 2021, Portugal presented an average sale price and an average price before taxes higher than average values verified in the European Union, in the order of 17 cents per liter and 2 cents per litre, respectively”.
According to ERSE, “Portugal presented, in the quarter under analysis, a tax burden in the average selling price of 95 simple gasoline in the order of 57%value above average registered in the European Union (53%), Spain (49%), Germany (54%) and Belgium (55%). Spain showed less detail of the set of eight countries analyzed in greater detail, about 8 weights of points that do not have a lower tax burden than the national market. The tax burden applied in the two countries description the practice of average selling prices in this national market higher than the average prices practiced in Spain”.
