The American side said that Russia violated the terms of the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START). This is reported Wall Street Magazine with reference to the report of the US State Department, which is contained in Congress.
According to the State Department, Moscow blocked American checks and denied Washington a meeting to negotiate compliance with the agreements. Due to the lack of US inspections, it became difficult to keep track of the number of warheads on the Russian side.
“There is a clear path to discover discovery (contracts. – Approx. ed.)and we continue to appreciate this treaty. Both of these non-compliances are easily remedied,” the State Department spokesman said.
He also added that the Russian Federation stated that it still adheres to the terms of the agreement. In September, the Russian side submitted a report to the United States on the presence of 1,549 warheads.
Former Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declaredthat START remains applicable for implementation between the Russian Federation and the States. A presidential spokesman said that the extension of this agreement should be negotiated after 2026.
