Boleslav’s surprising scorer on Bohemians and Matějovský: Playing with Mára was my dream
In the fall, you were on loan from Bohemians in Mladá Boleslav, and you transferred here in the winter. Did you plan it this way?
I am certainly pleased that Boleslav has shown interest in me. I’m glad that the loan turned into a transfer after six months. I think that was the goal of both parties. I did everything to make it happen. Now I will continue my efforts.
In the fall you acted. Where did you get such productivity?
I guess I was lucky. I don’t fit into the role of being one of the best shooters here. The main thing is that the goals go straight to the points. It doesn’t really matter if I score goals or someone else. The team must be successful in the spring.
Still, there must be some explanation for your five goals.
The coach put me in a higher position in a few matches, I played almost ten. When I played that high, I was getting good shooting opportunities. I feel good there, I confirmed it with the goals. Even the boys know that I feel pretty good in lime. When I play six, logically I don’t get as many opportunities. But I’ll be happy if I can play anywhere. It depends on the coach.
You have Marek Matějovský next to you. How do you play with him?
That was always my dream. In my youth I played for Sparta and I always liked Mára the most out of the team. I was sorry when he left Sparta. At that moment, I did not believe that I would play with him again. And you see, it worked, I really appreciate it. He is a fantastic footballer.
Yes. Mára has a lot of experience and tries to help everyone, not just me. You don’t even have to say anything to me, just look at him. I think we understand football. Or me with him for sure, I don’t know how he with me (smile).
Did you go through youth in Sparta, but the path didn’t lead to A for you?
It’s hard there. There are a lot of promising footballers in Sparta’s youth team, I went through a lot of preparation there, but I evaluated it myself that it was not worth much to stay in Sparta. I didn’t see the potential for myself in A. And instead of playing for B, I preferred to move elsewhere, I could play in the league.
You went to Slovácko. What was the experience like?
I can’t praise Slovakia enough, it was great there. The coach was very demanding, but even though I didn’t play that much there, I really appreciate my time in Uherské Hradiště. It was a great experience, I got a taste of the league environment, now I continue to benefit from it.
Then you headed to Bohemians, where you only lasted six months. why?
I was really looking forward to Bohemka, I returned to Prague, I met the guys I was with or knew in Sparta. The beginning looked good, I started quite often in the base, then it somehow went wrong. It was related to the fact that Bohemka was moving down the table, she was wet. We fought to stay in the league until the end.
When you played for Boleslav against Bohemians in the fall, you contributed to a 4:3 win with two goals, which you were very happy about.
But it was nothing at all against the boys or Bohemka, I still like them and the club. Some even congratulated me, I still talk to some of them. It’s true that I celebrated the goals a little. It was probably too much, but it’s over. Bohemka was probably glad that Boleslav exercised the option. I am happy to stay in Boleslav. That’ll wrap it up. I wish Bohemka the best of luck, I certainly have nothing against her.
What are your ambitions for the future?
I definitely want to help Boleslav, I want to restore her trust. I want to play in the starting line-up, help her to the highest ranks. If there is an opportunity, I would like to move on, but right now I am only thinking about Boleslav. That’s the main thing.
That’s probably everyone’s dream. But I’m a realist. I have had a good season, I have to build on it and confirm my performances for at least a year and a half, so that I can possibly move on.
