Russia assumes settlement in national currencies protected from sanctions risks
ISLAMABAD, 18 January. /TASS/. Russia prefers a payment mechanism that implies settlement in national currencies or currencies of third countries protected from sanctions risks. This was stated by Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov in an interview with the Nation newspaper, published on Wednesday.
“We give settlements in national currencies or currencies of third countries protected from sanctions risks,” the minister said, answering the question about the currency in which it is possible to purchase the acquisition of Russian oil ownership.
According to the publication, representatives of the Pakistani oil refining sector are initiating a case regarding the association in an international conference regarding the Russian Federation. In turn, Shulginov noted that a solution to this issue would be found as Russian-Pakistani trade and economic cooperation develops.
From January 18 to January 20, 2022, the next round of the meeting will be held in Islamabad as part of the work of the Russian-Pakistani Interdepartmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation. The Russian side will be headed by Shulginov, Pakistani-Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq. It is planned that the negotiations will discuss issues of payment for energy resources, transportation costs and insurance.
