The courses of the University of Debrecen were presented to the teachers and students of the vocational training center
The Vocational Training Center of Debrecen and the University of Debrecen organized a joint career orientation day, the purpose of which was to familiarize the center’s instructors with the higher education admission procedure and the university’s wide range of training.
On January 12, representatives of the four faculties of the University of Debrecen presented the higher education career paths to the heads of institutions, teachers, and students of the DSZC. The goal was to provide continuous and conscious support for the career path of students in vocational training, the Vocational Training Center of Debrecen announced.

Levente Takács, the deputy dean of education at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Debrecen, said at the event that his most important message is that he offers renewable courses to all students of the Vocational Training Center in Debrecen.
– What should be highlighted in the faculty’s offer is the very wide range of foreign languages: east of the Danube, we provide the opportunity to learn most languages. This is also unique from the point of view that foreign, native-speaking colleagues teach in almost every economically important language present in Europe. The other important thing is that, of course, in addition to the traditional humanities courses – Hungarian, history – we have courses that can also arouse the interest of the center’s students, he said.
He added that this could be the case, for example, in communication, psychology or international studies, which can also be used well in the corporate environment.
As an interesting thing about psychology, he mentioned that last year they acquired a social robot, with which the students also work together. He made this an integral part of the training in the form of experiments, demonstrations and working together.
– The Faculty of Engineering is facing a big change, as we know the needs of Debrecen and the region, we know what kind of engineers the companies present need. Another engine of change is that we ourselves want to change our education, to start elite training, to be among the best technical training places in Hungary and Central Europe. This is why the faculty still expects applicants to have an advanced school leaving certificate or an equivalent technical qualification.
Those who have already started a good direction in their lives in vocational education should continue the journey and come to the Faculty of Technology
– highlighted Géza Husi, dean of the Technical Faculty of the University of Debrecen.
TTK has been in close cooperation with the Vocational Training Center of Debrecen for many years, and they appear as another addition to the training offer – this was already discussed by István Lázár, the head of enrollment at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen.
He added,
who are currently studying in any of the center’s institutions can potentially be TTK students, but in connection with natural sciences, technical basic courses, and later master’s courses.
– The dual education at TTK works not only for technical, but also for natural science basic courses and master’s courses. And this greatly expanded the options. There is, for example, the electrical engineer BSc and MSc or the geographer MSc. In the case of these two majors, there is the greatest choice in terms of dual partners, since at the moment the Institute of Earth Sciences has cooperation agreements with nine partners, especially for the geographer MSc, as for example for the electrical engineer BSc and MSc – he concluded.
Veronika Fenyves, dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Debrecen, said that their institution welcomes all high school students who want to take part in practice-oriented training in the field of agriculture, economics or sports science and, with the diploma obtained here, obtain a valuable education for the labor market.
– In the current bachelor’s degree program, our majors start in the mentioned three fields of science. After the bachelor’s degree, we have students who choose the labor market and there are graduates who still have plans for further education. They can choose from several master’s programs, he said.
