Sweden is now a “failed state”, writes a leading newspaper
The sensational leader of Jyllands-Posten (paywall, 10 January), should set the bells ringing in the Swedish Parliament. We have never recorded a more crushing judgment from a media house about the Swedish state due to immigration. Jyllands-Posten is far from the “extreme right”, if anyone were to believe it. In recent years, the newspaper has been “safe” in the political center in Denmark.
“Sweden was transformed from one of the world’s safest societies into an obvious tragedy”, reads the title. The newspaper states that Denmark has now become a role model for Sweden with its clear strictures against gang criminals in recent years. “But Sweden is ten years behind” Denmark, it goes on to say.
Well, I would say 20 years myself.
– A national tragedy without parallel
Over the years, Swedish politicians have struggled to mock the much stricter and more realistic immigration policy to Denmark. There has almost been a crisis between the Danish and Swedish governments, as Swedish ministers have committed what is considered to be a miserable habit: namely to criticize another country’s policy, as the then Swedish civil justice minister, Thomas Boström (Social Democrats), did in the early 2000s the number when he openly spoke mockingly of the Danish 24-year rule for picking up a spouse.
Those times are over, says Jyllands-Posten quickly.
The starting point for the editorial is the shooting and killings in Sweden:
Sweden has confirmed its terrible record for the number of people killed by gunfire. The immigration policy is in ruins. Denmark has become a role model, but Sweden is 10 years behind.
A week ago, a 25-year-old man died in a suburb of Stockholm from his injuries after a shooting. He became the first offer of the year for Sweden’s totally failed immigration policy. He certainly won’t be the last.
In 2022, Sweden set a sad record in Europe with 64 killed. Nowhere on the continent do so many people die from shootings and bombings. 10 years ago, the picture was completely different. With 17 people killed by gunfire in that time, Sweden was at the bottom of the list. This is a national tragedy like no other. In particular, it is the political class, with its own agenda, which has failed the Swedish population to an unimaginable degree. One of the world’s best, safest and most secure communities has been harmed. Not only Sweden’s neighbors have good reason to ask: By what right? (emphasis added, ed.)
The newspaper also states that the Sweden Democrats, with Jimmie Åkesson at the helm, are “to the degree” that they are stupid before they thunder against the gang criminals and the Swedish state of affairs:
Well, that should be the end of the Swedish conceit. Gang crime should be defined as terrorism and it should be illegal to join a gang. But otherwise, the new government not least squints at Denmark and the Danish immigration policy, which is now described as exemplary. These are truly new times.
That Sweden today is an obvious, self-created tragedy is the new government’s difficult starting point.
A crime of another world
But will Sweden manage to get the gunshot schooner on the right track? Look, Jyllands-Posten is not sure. At the same time, Swedish outgoing governments are the smooth layer:
It was not long ago that both bourgeois and social democratic governments called their colleagues in Copenhagen the most terrible insults and portrayed Denmark as a crypto-racist hell on earth. That time is over. While Sweden is counting the dead victims of a completely irresponsible immigration policy, a new generation of politicians is now looking to Denmark to find a way out of the disaster. The police will have expanded powers, the penalties for gang crime will increase, and there is more focus on repatriation.
But the tougher methods are no guarantee that it will succeed in cleaning up. Sweden – i.e. the political elite – lying as they have done. Sweden has lost at least 10 years in putting a good image of itself as a humanitarian superpower over consideration of ordinary Swedish citizens. … All crime statistics show the same thing: that immigrants are significantly more criminal than ethnic Swedes. There is a clearer willingness to discuss these things more openly, but there are also still many taboos. This applies not least to the significant increased number of rapes and gang rapes.
Part of the misery is because it was hushed up for far too long by those who had an interest in it, apparently including most of the media. They would rather look away and come up with the most adventurous, evasive explanations yet grasp the root of the problem: that there are limits to how many non-Western immigrants such an open, free and trust-based society like Sweden can handle. It really shouldn’t be rocket science. It is the same story everywhere in the Western world, and that truth is not relativized by the fact that many countries have only now begun to take it seriously (emphasis added, ed.).
Now it’s all rounded off with this cannonade:
In other contexts, one or the other would debate with themselves whether Sweden is a kind failed state. Well, it is Sweden, and naturally Sweden’s neighbors also find other, more conciliatory sides. But that Sweden today is an obvious, self-inflicted tragedy is and will be the new government’s difficult starting point.
“I think it’s against Sweden”
These are words that become political. And these are words packed with realism. It is impossible to read this to mean that Jyllands-Posten hardly sees a single light for Sweden in the years to come. The newspaper is not alone in this. The first new online magazine Bullet is more hard-hitting. I then editorial today it is referred to Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer, who has presented the new key words to counter the criminal gangs and put an end to the shootings and bombings.
Strømmer’s words read:
– National strategy, central authorities together, the municipalities, crime prevention, more effective policy, more crimes solved, better national forensic center and we are waiting for more new lovers, new tools.
Birgitta Sparf, who wrote the editorial, is relentless. She obviously has no faith in this government either:
What Strömmer is really saying is that we are powerless. The police, the social authorities, the school – all are powerless.
And the social authorities and the school have nothing to do with the matter at all. It is the police who have a monopoly on violence and who must fight the violent gang criminals. Nobody else.
The school and social services have been talked about for 30 years now in these contexts. While the development just gets worse and worse with each passing year. So just drop that thought now, please!
Do I have any better suggestions myself? Absolutely! But they are completely impossible to implement in a country like Sweden:
– Reduce the destructive mass immigration from the Middle East and Africa to zero – already 30 years ago!
– Make Sweden a police state with absolute zero tolerance for any kind of crime and introduce punishments that correspond to the general sense of entitlement instead of focusing on the criminal having the fewest possible consequences.
– Deport every criminal person who has chosen to move here, regardless of crime and regardless of the atrocities that will possibly happen to him in his home country. It is not our responsibility.
– If the home country refuses to accept its own citizens, cut off billions in aid there with immediate effect the very next day.
So what is Sparf’s conclusion?
Excuse the pessimism, but I think it is towards Sweden. These empty words from Strømmer mean nothing at all.
Sparf is really expressing the same thing as we at HRS have been doing for the very last few years. Together have left the platform in terms of good democratic solutions to Sweden’s insane crime problem. So far political leadership over the years the lies are allowed to destroy the security of the ordinary citizen of the country. The Sweden we remember three decades ago will not return. Sweden has turned into a multicultural chaos of violence. It’s just realizing it.
It will be interesting to see if we get public figures on the number of Swedes who have left the country in recent years in favor of not least Poland, Hungary, Spain and Portugal. We have met a married couple which has been given a new and much better life in Portugal. They have not regretted for a single second the choice of tok. The relocation can lead to a self-reinforcing spiral. More and more people will see that it is possible to create a safe and good life outside Sweden’s borders. In this way, valuable tax dollars will move to the barn and the original Swedish population will shrink further.
