Bundesliga
The Bundesliga is currently on an extended winter break due to the World Cup in Qatar.
Behind the scenes, however, the teams are already planning for the second half of the season and the winter transfer window, which opens from January. Many players are also negotiating contract extensions and possible salary increases.
The future of regular Almamy Touré at Eintracht Frankfurt however, does not seem to be entirely certain.
The 26-year-old centre-back’s contract expires after the end of the season in the summer. In fact, both sides would like to continue working together. But now the talks between Eintracht Frankfurt and Touré have been broken off for the time being. That reports dying”picture“-Newspaper.
Almamy Touré is said to be demanding two million euros
Touré and his advisor are said to have demanded a salary that the SGE is not willing to pay. Touré is currently said to have received 1.6 million euros a year including bonuses. In the event of a contract extension, the central defender should demand more than two million euros. Apparently too much for Eintracht: The contract extension is currently on hold.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Touré with a lot of bad luck with injuries
For the time being, there is no rush for Eintracht to continue talks with Almamy Touré. As in many clubs, the SGE currently has to save on salaries. Touré has also suffered a thigh injury in recent months and was unable to play.
In the Champions League, for example, he has not yet been used this season and also in the Bundesliga he only played in three games this season. In the last of these, he was only substituted on in the 90th minute.
A season earlier, Touré had played a large part in Eintracht’s success in the Europa League. The 26-year-old played against Barcelona in the quarter-finals, West Ham in the semi-finals and Glasgow in the final.
Touré himself said of an extension: “At some point the time will come to start a conversation. I feel good in Frankfurt, we’ve experienced some great things. If the option arises, I’ll think about it.”
It will become clear at the end of the season whether Eintracht Frankfurt and Almamy Touré will still find common ground when it comes to salary or whether the successful common path will end due to salary demands.
Lionel Messi and Argentina are under pressure. Before the last World Cup group game on Wednesday (8 p.m.) against Poland, the Albiceleste could even drop out of the World Cup. A draw might not be enough.
