Bogdan Aurescu: The Republic of Moldova is facing multiple hybrid attacks that aim to derail the course of reforms.
The Republic of Moldova is facing multiple hybrid attacks, which take the most varied forms, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu.
“We are talking about overlapping and artificially generated crises. Their purpose is very simple: to derail the course of reforms and European integration firmly assumed by the President of the Republic of Moldova and the Government and clearly supported by the Parliament. For example, the reduction to Gazprom, in each month, of the volumes of natural gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova.
However, the vigor and determination with which the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova stand up to these massive challenges is remarkable,” said the head of Romanian diplomacy, in an interview for Agerpres.
In the context of the upcoming meeting of Foreign Ministers from NATO member countries, which will take place in Bucharest next week, Bogdan Aurescu emphasized that it is “the first time that the Republic of Moldova is invited to such a format”, something that “actually confirms the importance “. which the allies give to the stability of the Republic of Moldova, especially in these difficult moments for Chisinau”.
“The assistance package decided at the NATO Summit in Madrid provides allied support for the long-term plans of the Republic of Moldova for the development and modernization of the security and defense sector. Also, some of the important objectives of NATO support for the Republic of Moldova are the strengthening of logistical capabilities, training and management of human resources”, Bogdan Aurescu showed.
He mentioned that the Alliance implements a series of projects aimed at strengthening the resilience and preparedness capacities in the field of civil emergencies of the Republic of Moldova.
“I recall here the recent allocations offered by Romania to NATO voluntary funds with 1,300,000 dollars dedicated to strengthening the resilience and defense capacity for Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Jordan. of the most consistent amount, 600,000 dollars. the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The head of Romanian diplomacy emphasized that Romania will continue to be “a responsible contributor to activate its promotion of Euro-Atlantic security and stability, including with regard to the Republic of Moldova, a state in which the unprecedented price increases for natural gas and electricity, the galloping inflation which. has already reached the level of 34.6% in October 2022, the loss of access to the traditional markets where exports of agricultural products were directed, the embargo imposed by Russia on August 15 on the import of plant products put extraordinary pressure on citizens and resources budgets managed by the Chisinau Government”.
