Yeltsin and Russia broke up: Sport: Oblgazeta
Tomorrow, November 20, the biggest football tournament of the four years, the World Cup, will start in Qatar. The strongest misfortunes of the national teams for months are the struggle for the main trophy – the World Cup. Regional Newspaper answers the most important questions about the upcoming tournament, which Russia did not allow.
Why the 2022 World Cup is an application?
– The tournament will be held on the territory of Qatar, which is famous for its high temperatures. In summer, the air there warms up to 50 degrees, and, of course, it is simply impossible to play in such heat. Therefore, FIFA held an unprecedented tournament: the tournament was held in November-December, although all the opposite world championships were in the summer, during a pause in the national championships.
The new World Cup metrics include the number of times many club events start earlier than usual to prevent a 2022 World Cup pause from appearing on their calendar. By the way, the organizers of the tournament had to install all cooling systems at the stadium in order to significantly increase the temperature both in the stands and on the field. But FIFA decided to hold the championship in the winter.
- Qatar is a Muslim country with fairly strict laws. And, of course, hosting the World Cup with its usual atmosphere is hard to find. In fact, the problems are also of origin. For example, two days before the opening match, FIFA issued accusations that the sale of beer in and around stadiums in Qatar would be banned, even though the International Football Federation had signed a contract with Budweiser for $75 million. Now, with caution, there is an arrest and the statement of the organizers that justice will be loyal to the prosecution of fans, because the production began distribution during the World Cup.
- In Qatar, virtually all the stadiums are built from scratch. At the same time, the organizers emphasize the main advantage of the Qatari World Cup – all arenas are located within an access zone from each other. If in Russia between Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad, which hosted the 2018 World Cup, is 3000 km, then the maximum distance between the arenas of Qatar is 75 km.
Thanks to the observation of the stadium, fans attend larger matches than can be done in Russia. It is interesting that “Timur Was Here” will be broadcast on “Match TV”, the author of which is a commentator Timur Zhuravel you should attend all 64 games of the tournament, with some of them starting at the same time (in 2018, a journalist from Regional Newspaper took part in 15 games of the World Cup in Russia)
Also, the organizing committee of the 2022 World Cup on development that all the stadiums built are transferred to heritage mode. Somewhere the number of seats is decreasing, some stadiums will be rebuilt and will cease to be sports facilities, one arena and several times completely taken.
- For fans who are attracted to the tent camp, if necessary, they live during the World Cup, since there are not enough hotels and hotels in Qatar to accommodate everyone. True, the cost of living in such a room is equal to the price of a room in a five-star hotel – $ 300 per night.
- The World Cup in Qatar is the most expensive in history. The authorities of the country entailed organizing it and spending 220 US dollars – an exorbitant amount. For comparison, according to various sources, the World Cup in Russia cost no more than $15 billion.
What format?
The format of the tournament has not changed since the World Cup in Russia. 32 participating countries are divided into 8 groups of four teams, the top two from each quartet will go to the playoffs.
Next comes the elimination. The opening match of the tournament will take place on November 20, the final will take place on December 18.
Who is the favorite?
Bookmakers call mainly the favorite of the tournament team of Brazil. Five-time world champions are going to Qatar to get a squad led by Neymar. The Brazilians last became the winners of the tournament twenty years ago, so they will strive to break the losing streak.
Also among the elect there is another South American country – Argentina. Most likely, this will be the last championship Lionel Messi, who in his career deserved absolutely everything except the World Cup. He will lead a well-coordinated Argentine team, which in 2021 became the winner of the America’s Cup.
And, of course, you should not notice the excess of the world champions – the French team. Throughout the history of the tournament, its own exhibition was held at the following tournaments: Italy in 1938 and Brazil in 1962. Team Didier Deschamps this success may well be repeated: the composition of the French is not weaker than it was during the tournament in Russia, plus the newly minted owner of the Golden Ball was added to the team – Karim Benzemanot called to the team for several years.
Who is missing?
I am sure, first of all – the Russian team. Team Valeria Karpina participated in qualifying tournaments and was going to break through in the play-offs. However, among the many, the Russian team was suspended from all international matches, including from the joints to the World Cup, where it was supposed to play with Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic. In the end, the ticket to Qatar was seized by the Poles.
Not going to Qatar and the current champion of Europe – Italy. The Italians did not get to the World Cup in Russia, they checked the change of varieties and, as they say, after winning the Euro, they will definitely go to the 2022 World Cup. But the team Roberto Mancini in Qatar, and then lost in the joints of North Macedonia and missed the second world championship in a row.
Among those who ended up in Russia, Sweden, Egypt, Iceland, Nigeria, Panama and Colombia also did not get to the 2022 World Cup.
Whom to root for?
Quite a logical question in the absence of the Russian team. By the way, the Russian team participated in only four world championships: in 1994 (did not leave the group), in 2002 (did not leave the group), in 2014 (did not leave the group) and in 2018 (reached quarterfinals).
Numerous proposals at various levels are being made to support Serbia in Qatar, a state that is friendly to Russia. By the way, the midfielder of “Ural” could also get into its composition. Lazar Rangelovichwho already had experience playing for the national team, but this time Lazar did not receive an invitation.
In addition, you can, for example, pay attention to the collection chamber. First, there is a player Gael Ondua – the only Russian who will still play in Qatar. Gael is a graduate of Moscow CSKA and Lokomotiv, and also has (in addition to Kamerny) Russian citizenship. Will also play for Cameroon Moomin Ngamale – forward of the Moscow “Dynamo”.
The Croatian national team has well-known warm-hearted fans Dejan Lovren – defender of the St. Petersburg “Zenith”. And for Iran, the striker of the German Bayer, a former player of Rubin, Rostov and Zenit, will play. Serdar Azmoun.
Where to see?
The full-fledged and only Russian broadcaster of the 2022 World Cup is the Match TV channel. it was about the fact that the matches are shown by Channel One, Russia-1 and Match TV, as it was in 2018. However, later it became known that “Match” showed all 64 games in an exclusive manner on the thematic channels of the holding.
The opening match between Qatar and Ecuador will take place on November 20. Before this opening ceremony of the tournament, which will begin at 19:40 Ural time. The game itself will start at 21:00 Ural time.
Sverdlovsk at the World Cup
Only three natives of the Middle Urals played in the world football championships (and among this trio there is not a single Yekaterinburger: several participants in the mundials were given by Nizhny Tagil, one by Kamensk-Uralsky).
For the first time, the Sverdlovsk team went to the final part of the World Cup in 2014. These were two Tagil residents: midfielder Oleg Shatov (who was 23 at the time) and striker Maxim Kanunnikov (22).
Shatov was the first to take to the field: on June 17, he was delayed for 59 minutes in the starting section of the Russian national team against Southern Europe (1: 1), after which he was replaced by Alana Dzagoeva.
Kanunnikov made his debut at the meeting: he played the entire match against the competition (0:1).
General indicators of our fellow countrymen at the World Cup 2014:
Shatov – 3 games (all in the starting lineup), 1 yellow card,
Kanunnikov – 2 games.
Neither of them scored goals or assists.
The third Sverdlovsk citizen – defender Igor Smolnikov (29) – participant of the 2018 home world championship. A native of Kamensk-Uralsky received 36 minutes against Uruguay (0:3), after which he was sent off for a yellow second card. He never entered the field again.
At the time of inclusion in the world championships, all Trisverdlovsk residents worked for non-resident clubs. Shatov and Smolnikov played for the Yekaterinburg “Ural” (earlier or later), Kanunnikov never wore a “bumblebee” T-shirt.
Yeltsin footballer to play at World Cup in Qatar
The 30-year-old midfielder is part of the Costa Rica squad, which will play its first match in the World Cup on November 23 (against Spain) Yeltsin Tejeda (Yeltsin Antonio Tejeda Valverde), a mother who was a fan of the first president of Russia and gave her son a name in honor of our countrywoman.
Yeltsin Tejeda is now playing in his homeland – for the Herediano club. Prior to that (in 2014–2018), the role of an athlete was a defensive midfielder.
Tejeda made his debut in the national team at the age of 19 and has so far met at the level of 73 matches (while not scoring a single goal!).
The current World Championship for Tejeda is already the third in his career. Previously, he appeared at the world championships in Brazil (2014, 5 matches) and in Russia (2018, 1).
BY THE WAY. According to the website www.namespedia.com, there are 14 people with the name Yeltsin in the world today. They live in 8 countries: 4 each in the USA and Peru, one each in Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica, India, Indonesia and Ecuador.
