The Pentagon believes that Russia is preparing a nuclear strike on Ukraine
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he sees nothing to indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
“At the moment, I don’t see anything that would involve me, that he made such a decision,” Austin said to TASS in an interview with CNN.
He noted that he preferred Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu that he “did not follow this path and behave like that, irresponsibly.”
Earlier, on September 30, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington is extremely serious about the possibility of using weapons.
On September 21, Putin addressed the Russians with an appeal, saying that partial mobilization was taking place in Russia. At the same time, he said that the United States and Great Britain were “directly pushing Kyiv to transfer military operations to Russia’s heavy cargoes”, and “nuclear blackmail” had already begun.
The head of state recalled that Russia can also have an impact. “And with a threat to the territorial integrity of our country, to protect Russia and our people, of course, all cases of proliferation at our disposal are widespread. This is not a bluff,” Putin repeated.
