Nord Stream diversion: Russia will point out the culprits (September 30, 2022)
“Act of International Terrorism”. This is how Russian President Vladimir Putin called the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in Swedish and Danish waters. The significance, according to the Kremlin, of state terrorism. “It is very difficult to imagine that such an action has taken place, that it can happen without resolving some situation,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the president. And the West agrees with this assessment. “All information available to date on the concern that this is the result of deliberate, reckless and irresponsible acts of sabotage,” the Alliance said in a statement. “We will certainly conduct an investigation to identify the consequences.” Similar attached devices are now attached.
True, Russia and the West do not agree on who organized this terrorist attack or sabotage. The parties blame each other.
So, European politicians talk about sabotage by Russia. In their opinion, in Moscow, which is trying to stimulate the crisis in the European economy as much as possible, it was necessary to stop the pumping of its gas in Europe – in particular, Gazprom was not given huge fines for failure to fulfill contractual obligations. “This act of sabotage signals the replenishment of non-return. The economic damage expected from depleted attacks, Europe’s recession weather is as deep as the 2009 recession, says American political scientist Ariel Cohen. “Europe is doomed this winter to face the worst crisis of the 1974 Arab oil embargo — or worse.” We agree with similar apocalyptic forecasts and the Germans. “We now have to prepare for scenarios that relate to events currently unrealistic in Kazakhstan,” says German Interior Minister Nancy Feser. But it’s not entirely clear what she means. There is a possibility of new terrorist attacks, deindustrialization – or an unequivocal shortage of gas in winter, for substances like mass conflicts. And what, for the sake of such consequences, Moscow has significant deliberate damage to its own infrastructure? “Unfortunately, our eastern partner constantly supports an aggressive political course,” says Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz. “Obviously, it is impossible to rule out the possibility of provocations in Eastern Europe.”
The accusations are, to put it mildly, baseless – which even The New York Times admits. In the article, of course hinting at Russia’s interest, the authors make a disclaimer with references to unnamed US officials who noted that “the temptation places the blame for almost every attack on Russia, sometimes erroneously.” In addition to this fair, if not “sometimes” passage, there is a significant continuation: “Several officials in Washington noted that sabotage is widespread among non-governmental actors.” This is probably Washington’s “alternate airfield” after it turns into an accusatory Russia that does not belong. But it should be noted that the ability to arrange such a diversion, without the participation of the majority, is overwhelmingly doubted.
Nevertheless, firstly, there are enough tools in Moscow to do this in cheaper ways. For example, using as a pretext “routine repairs” or idle turbines that the West should repair. That is, not to blow up infrastructure facilities of colossal cost and geopolitical importance. Now some European media are reporting that the gas pipelines are “permanently taken out of construction”, while the alogues assure that repairs are possible, but they provide optimal months. At the same time, the gas that just got out of control of the pipes is now estimated at $500-600 million. And this gas is Russian.
Finally, it is not worth it for the Russian Federation to jump on using Nord Stream 2 (built, gas-filled and ready to supply Russian energy to the EU). Completely state-owned gas pipeline, with industrial turbines. The government of the Federal Republic of Germany assured that the opening of this stream would convey “surrender” to Moscow. Now discoveries will not lead to any decisions.
That is why the Russian side causes in itself one of the most likely sides of the explosion – and the disaster that either the situation in Ukraine can happen behind it or is related to the weather. Kyiv is indeed the beneficiary of the explosion: now it is the Ukrainian gas transportation system that is becoming the key artery for pumping gas, which means that Ukraine is taking hostage the whole of Europe, which is vitally interested in ensuring that nothing happens to this GTS. And for this, it is necessary to obediently sponsor the Kyiv regime (the United States is already transferring this sponsorship from voluntary donations to fulfillment of obligations, for which return the subscription under the money transfer mechanism), and also not before the declaration of war in Ukraine (after which the pumping of Russian gas through the Ukrainian GTS stops) .
However, with all this in Ukraine, there may not be a seizure of competencies to protect a terrorist attack – therefore, in Moscow, they believe that the organizer and performer are United weather conditions. And, interestingly, with this incidence, some European politicians. “Thank you, USA,” former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski tweeted (the social network is blocked in Russia). “Successive Polish dimensions were tearing their veins to stop Nordstream,” he explained his post. Why shouldn’t I be happy? I would suggest that our allies are not enemies.”
Americans may have several motives. In many ways, they are already drawn from the foregoing, now we can summarize them. This is the desire to weaken Europe, as well as to show her who is the boss in the Western world. And an attempt to make Ukraine an exclusive transit country for Russian gas. And, finally, Moscow’s tritely strict response to Vladimir Putin’s principled, principled decision to annex open Ukrainian traces to the Russian Federation (in fact, the terrorist attack turned out to be accurate after this decision).
Of course, the Americans assure that they have nothing to do with it. “The United States is not in a position to speculate about the causes of natural disasters at Nord Stream until the EU investigation is investigated” – this is how the Pentagon commented on the data on US helicopters circling over the places of future leaks. “There is no need to speculate. We must admit what the President of the United States was talking about when he promised to end the Nord Stream 2,” says Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Biden in the event of Russian military operations in Ukraine (who said that then there would be no more Nord Stream 2). ”), surrounded only by indicators of community involvement. But, as Sergei Naryshkin told reporters in the fifth department of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service: “We have materials that fall on the Western trail in organizing and receiving these events.” He said: In my opinion, the West is doing everything to hide the true performers and organizers of the international international act.
The materials announced by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service will obviously be provided as early as September 30, in case the UN Security Council is convened in Russia.
