Elections in Siena, Franceschelli elected to the Senate. Fratelli d’Italia flies, the Democratic Party remains first party but loses – Corriere di Siena
This time there are no shades. The polls decreed only one winner: Giorgia Meloni and Fratelli d’Italia. On a national scale and also in Tuscany, where the center-left defends itself only in the Florentine area. Out of 13 single-member constituencies, the center-right brings home 10, between the Chamber and the Senate. Five go to FdI (2 + 3), four to the Lega (1 + 3), 2 to the Democratic Party (to the Chamber), 1 to Forza Italia (to the Chamber) and the Italian Left (to the Senate). As the mayors of Siena and Pisa pointed out, “the red region no longer exists”but in fact September 25 was a day to forget even for Lega and Forza Italia.
Among the minor parties, the alliance between the Greens and the Italian Left and the Third Pole rejoices, which is better than the national averages, while the 5-star Movement is down by several percentage points. The first party in the House is still the Democratic Party, which loses about 3% compared to 2018, while FdI goes from 4 to 26%. Very badly the League, which falls by 11%, Forza Italia also down, minus 4%. In the Senate, Giorgia Meloni ranks in the lead, gaining 22% compared to four years ago. The Democratic Party drops by almost 5 points, while the Lega collapses to minus 11% and Forza Italia takes a step back by 5%. Debacle also for the M5S, despite Conte’s party on the national level being one of the few that confessed the forecasts positively. Both in the House and in the Senate, pentastellates lose 13%.
If we pass from the regional framework to that municipal, the comparison becomes a little more difficult, because in 2018 the boarding schools were designed differently. In the Chamber, Siena elected Pier Carlo Padoan with 38.3% of the votes (and Pd first party) with 12,242 preferences. Claudio Borghi, representing the center-right, stops at 31.5%, while Leonardo Franci of the M5S finished third with 19.5%. Yesterday the choice fell on Fabrizio Rossimayor of Grosseto and representative of FdI, which has imposed itself on Enrico Rossi for 40.73% to 33.89%. The governor, however, prevailed a Siena, as well as in other 23 municipalities of the province (against 10 of the challenger). For him 37.88% of the preferences and 11.047 votes, while for the main challenger 35.20% and 10.265 votes. Third Stefano Scaramelli with 12.60%. Pd first party with over 28% (in 2018 it was 31.4% and had 1,500 more votes), followed by FdI with 25.45%. The League was bad, even surpassed by Forza Italia, and down by 10%. “For the Democratic Party it is a catastrophe”, wrote Enrico Rossi on Facebook. As for the Senate, the victory goes to Simona Petrucci, councilor in Grosseto and representative of the Brothers of Italy. Prevails over the former president of the province, Silvio Franceschilli: 41.96% against 32.61%, driven by his party, first in the boarding school with 28.19%. The voters of Siena, Arezzo and Grosseto were called into question. As happened for Rossi, also in this case the mayor of Montalcino prevails in the capital: 38.36% against 34.97%: 11,179 preferences against 10,191. The Democratic Party is the first party with 29% followed by FdI with 24.91%. Forza Italia overtakes the League in this case too, while in third place among the candidates it places itself Davide Vivaldi of the Third pole with 11.68%.
In the a comparison with five years agowhere the college was made up of Siena and Arezzo, the Pd loses 2.4%, while FdI gains 20%. Male Lega and Forza Italia, which took 18% and 11% and today have to be satisfied with 4.42% and 5.05%. The M5S is also very bad. Donatella Bonciani was 23.2% present in 2018, while Andrea Bargagli stopped just under 9%. In the rest of the Sienese territory, Franceschelli is in 22 municipalities, while Petrucci in 12, establishing itself in the south of the province, with the exception of Gaiole in Chianti.
For Franceschillihowever, theand the doors of the Parliament are passed through the repechage in the Tuscan proportional college. The mayor of Montalcino, the third behind the elected Dario Parrini and Ylenia Zambiente, knew he had a good chance of success but the confirmation came only in the evening.
Similar speech for Francesco Michelotti, candidate for FdI and fourth on the list in the proportional to the Chamber of Siena, Arezzo, Grosseto and Livorno. He is fourth on the list behind Chiara La Porta, Patrizio La Pietra and Chiara Colosimo. The first, given the party’s percentages, is certain. Those who follow it have won in single-member constituencies, so they will be elected elsewhere. This should allow the councilor to climb some positions and have a seat in Montecitorio. Nothing to do instead for Scaramelli, Vivaldi, Lorenzo Lorè and Lorenza Bondi (both candidates with Forza Italia) and Marco Falorni (Noi moderati).
