On September 22, 2022, the round table “Russia-Donbass: the image of the future and the realization of the community” was held in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, reports Patriarchy.ru.
The commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for the harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations and the All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Defense of the Defense of Freedom” (RARS) acted as organizers.

At the meeting of the deputies of the commission: deputy chairman of the commission, member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for interethnic relations M.A. Lyange, member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for interaction with religious associations, commanding Bishop of ROSHVE S.V. Ryakhovsky and the representative of the Buddhist Middle Sangha of Russia in Moscow, Sanjay Lama A.A. Balzhirov. There were also speeches by the Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Lugansk People’s Republic, representatives of organizations of Donbass and Russia, experts in the field of social and confessional dialogue.
On the part of the Russian Orthodox Church, the heads of the Department for Work with Private Structures of the Synodal Department for the Seizure of the Church with Society and the Media P.V. Lebedev and the head of the sector for the development of social projects of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service N.A. Setanov.
In their speeches, those present noticed a significant spread of referendums on joining the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye elements, into Russia. In addition, they touched upon the investigation of Russian organizations to restore peace in the liberated territories and cases of public implementation in humanitarian initiatives, the role of public diplomacy in resolving disagreements between the peoples of Russia and Ukraine. According to the general judgment, the activities of the bodies require a high concentration of attention in Russia and abroad.
Chairman of the commission of the RF OP on the harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations V.Yu. Zorin spoke about how relevant the agenda of the interethnic congress is in the conditions of holding referendums in the LPR, DPR and liberated territories: “Today it is quite obvious that there is no possibility for a global resolution in this situation of the paradigm, as in the case of widespread residence. The results of the upcoming referendums predict This is also a simple decision, which Russia perceives as steps that will strengthen our unity with the entire Russian world, strengthen the security and sovereignty of our country and will be consistent with the establishment of a just geopolitical order.
In his chairmanship of the Russian Association for the Protection of Freedom of Freedom, S.A. Melnikov drew attention to the fact that pollution can cause all-round legal support for religious organizations that are located on the territory where the referenda are planned to be held.
The outcome of the meeting was a general statement of the participants, in which they discussed the armed aggression of the Ukrainian armed forces against world citizens and civilians, the undertaken structure of Ukraine to discredit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and confiscate its property. The participants of the round table spoke out against violent actions against clergy and parishioners.
The statement also expresses a special intention to provide extremely important assistance to religious and other non-profit organizations of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to a high degree in the Russian legal and socio-cultural space.
On the part of the Synodal Department for Outreach to Churches with Society and the Media, the event was attended by employees of the department for work with state structures, specialist deacon Zakharia Begdash and assistant P.A. Ovsyannikov.
