Russia and Turkey discussed bilateral trade and business cooperation
On September 21, in the format of a video conference, Yulia Shvabauskene, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, held an important business with Yunus Bayram, Deputy Director General of the Main Directorate for Food and Development Control and Forestry Audit.
Yulia Shvabauskienė noted that the volumes of selection of fruit and vegetable products from Turkey in Russia are at the level of the previous year. Among the main export commodities are tangerines, lemons, peaches, apples, nectarines, apricots and grapes. However, Rosselkhoznadzor discovers cases of detection of quarantine objects in Turkey. In January-September 2022, 9 different types of harmful plants were identified in 387 consignments of fruits and vegetables imported into Russia.
Yunus Bayram drew attention to the fact that Turkey pays special attention to safety, regulation and security guarantees, and that until the end of the year, control over raw materials in Russia strengthens production, packaging, transportation and shipment.
In pursuance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the development of trade and economic cooperation (Sochi, August 5, 2022) in partially identical procedures for quarantine phytosanitary control and reducing the time and material costs of participants in foreign economic activity, as well as in ” seamless” passage of quarantine control of phytosanitary control of products, the departments agreed to carry out measures for control and audit of measures.
The parties also agreed to continue monitoring information systems in the field of plant quarantine, which provide full traceability of trade.
In conclusion, the parties thanked the friend for the constructive dialogue and mutual trade.
