ISW: Russia prepares in occupied open “referenda on annexation”
Sasha Vakulina, Euronews:
A few months after the start of the invasion, Russian troops are holding so-called “referendums” in four occupied regions of Ukraine.
American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) alleges that officials are covering polling stations in some regions of the Russian Federation so that the alleged persons – in many cases, according to experts, this meant “stolen” territories of the occupied territories of Ukraine – could “vote”.
On the map – four regions, which are discussed. They are partially or completely occupied by Russia. Most of their pre-war population left their homes. But when it comes to Donetsk and Zaporozhye, it must be said that significant parts of the regions are still the size of Ukrainian troops.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, representatives of the government occupation authorities in Ukraine probably expect that after the terrorist annexation, the occupied takeover of imperial forces to implement the mobilization quotas occupied for the regions.
Heavy fighting continues on the borders of these regions. Ukrainian forces are reportedly conducting limited operations to control the borders of the Kharkiv and Luhansk economies, as well as returning to Liman attacks.
Russian troops shelled Yatskovka, about 25 km from Liman. Experts say it’s shocking that Russian forces are causing recent takeovers of Ukrainian positions in the area.
According to the British Ministry of Defence, “the situation on this sector of the front remains active.” The daily intelligence update reports that “Ukraine is now putting pressure on increased pressure, which Russia considers important for food purposes.”
