Russia looks forward to more sustainable energy cooperation with Japan

The parties discussed the continuation of the company in Russia, including in the Sakhalin-2, Yamal LNG and Arctic LNG-2 projects. The Russian government is counting on higher cooperation with the Japanese company in the energy sector, TASS reports.
“Work in the Sakhalin-2 project and other joint projects is mutually beneficial for our countries. A comprehensive intensification of cooperation in the energy sector is expected, primarily investment and technological integration,” said Novak, whose words are used in use. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation discussed with the head of the Japanese company issues of business bilateral cooperation between Russia and Japan in the energy sector, as well as issues related to the continuation of the company’s work in the Russian Federation. The focus was on the continued development of gas production and exploration projects on Sakhalin. Earlier, the Russian government allowed to transfer 12.5% in the new operator of the Sakhalin-2 project to Mitsui’s subsidiary registered in Dubai. The share in Sakhalin Energy was transferred to MIT SEL Investment, follows from the order of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Earlier it was reported that another Japanese participant in the project, Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi), also decided to increase its stake in the Sakhalin-2 project and plans to notify the Russian authorities before the end of August. |
