Russia can offer advisory assistance in collecting its legislation in such a way as to be excluded from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the head of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of the State Duma of the Russian Federation announced to Match TV Dmitry Svishchev.
Sports officials in Norway fear that under the WADA code they will be represented against their athletes and federations due to the legal hurdle. Nils Einar Martin, Secretary General of the Norwegian Sports Confederation (NIF), informed that WADA is responsible for fines and has the rights of the international community. In the near future, a ban on participation in major tournaments.
– A fair demand. Why tend to be in a privileged position? There are clear rules on anti-doping testing, why they can violate it, Grounds on local law? This is where the initial questions about the observed phenomenon in the observed situation come from, as a therapeutic disease, I think that this phenomenon is a direct limitation of youth doping testing. This is discussed at meetings – and sports federations, and officials, and the athletes themselves. Thank God they were finally heard. This is a strong sign that the intended sports functions are considering the implications of their work. After all, we can say objectively that suffering athletes do not comply with anti-doping rules, and we should get voided answers why they are allowed to do so.
– Maybe WADA will indeed issue a serious call for refusal to participate in the Olympic Games?
– Not just can, it should have done it if it does not see changes in the legislation. All countries have ratified the agreement, all have accepted the rules, and there is no exception for Norway. If WADA does not do this, then the principle of the entire global anti-doping system will be violated. Russia also accepts fair WADA rules, we have repeatedly stated that we are against doping in sports. By the way, we just changed the criminal case in order to strengthen the responsibility for these violations. The Norwegians can learn from us, we can show good neighborly assistance in this regard,” Svishchev told a Match TV correspondent.
