The end of the dangerous crossing of the road: a new crossing is being built in Olomouc in Brno
A new pedestrian crossing is being built in Olomoucká Street in Brno’s Černovice near the Spáčilova bus stop in the direction from the center. Workers are currently building an island there. “The work is divided into two stages and the end is tentatively announced for September 11,” informed Anna Dudková from the department of the Brno municipality.

Residents there welcome the creation of a new place where they can cross from one side of the street to the other. There is also a health center nearby. “In my opinion, a transition is definitely needed here. People often run across the road to the second stop because the second crossing is too far. And that’s not completely safe,” Andrea Kaplanová told Rovnosti reporter on the spot.

The dangerous crossing of the street outside the crossing is one of the reasons why a new zebra crossing will be created. “There is a public transport stop and a medical facility in the place, which means more pedestrian traffic. Pedestrians now use a relatively distant crossing to cross a busy road,” outlined Dudková. The new solution will bring greater comfort and safety to pedestrians.
A new crossing will be created in the street, including an island and the installation and connection of a light signaling device. “The lighting of the crossing is not part of it, the demand traffic light will be equipped with acoustic signaling for the blind,” mentioned Dudková.
