Festival fashion is something of its own. After two years without a festival in Tøyenparken, the Øya Festival is back, and does not deliver unexpectedly on the fashion front.
Several of the festival-goers MinMote talked with a common thought in their heads as they dressed for the day: It’s hot.
Because Oslo is bathed in sun and high temperatures of up to 30 degrees, and that naturally points out the ripeness.
Presenter Live Nelvik was dressed in a short, zebra-striped miniskirt, which she combined with a band T-shirt from Metteson and classic Converse.
– The weather has blessed Øya with a simple dress code: Bikini. But I can’t go here in a bikini. I also think a bit practically, because I hate freezing, she says and points to the sweater she has hanging over her shoulders.
The group of friends Christiane Bergersen, Frida Berg Aas, Albertine Lundgren, Victoria Edvartsen and Kristine Vestby are among the many who have made the trip to see the artist as Dagny and Florence and the Machine perform.
The gang had chosen both minimalist favorites and airy solutions when they dressed for the day.
– I like green, and have worn this outfit before and thought it was absolutely gorgeous. It is also airy and delicious, says Edvartsen.
For Karoline Hotel Kumwenda, «comfy key» was at this year’s Island Festival. She was wearing a large, red NFL jersey she had borrowed from her husband Andreas.
– For my part, nothing fits right now, she says to MinMote and says that it is only a few weeks until the due date.
Andreas Kumwenda’s outfit consisted of vintage shorts and a singlet he bought on the way here. Like many of the other festival participants, he had to go shopping for something suitable in the heat.
– I’ve had the shorts for a long time. It even has holes in the back.
He thinks it’s fun that people go a little extra at a festival, and says that even those who otherwise have a rather subdued style go a little extra.
– People hit the bass drum and come out of their shell.
