Russia continues to expand its illegal control in the occupied territories
Fourteen years after the Russian invasion of Georgia, the Russian Federation continues to violate the agreement on the use of fire, the Agreement on the average use and expands its illegal control in the Georgian occupied territories. This is stated in the statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war.
“By erecting barbed wire and other barriers on the occupation line, detecting people who are arresting and kidnapping, grossly violating human rights, carrying out ethnic discrimination against Georgia, Russia strikes at security, brings people and the humanitarian environment closer to the places, thereby, among those used, tries to isolate people located in the occupied territories from the export of parts of Georgia and international communications,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia notes that during the check, a “turning point” decision was made by the European Court for the Rectification of the Human Condition (ECHR) in the case of the August war, which was issued on January 21, 2021. As emphasized in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ECtHR established that it is Russia that takes responsibility for the violation of human rights in the occupied regions, and that it is assumed from this that the long-term consequences of Russia from the onset of the offensive for occupation and the frequency of cases in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali disease were in vain.
Peace settlement and international support
Tbilisi proposes to turn to the world social-Georgian conflict and thanks the world community for supporting the sovereignty and territorial territory of the country.
“This support becomes especially relevant today, when Russia, with its military aggression against Ukraine, continues to violate international rights and supports Europe,” the statement said.
Tbilisi decided to join the self-commitment, end the occupation of Georgian territories and liberate Georgian regions from the so-called independence.
Recall that as a result of the Russian-Georgian war, Russia in 2008 recognized the independence of two Georgian regions – Abkhazia and South Ossetia – and transferred additional forces and means to its territories in the territories. All the states of the world – with the exception of Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru and research – are exploring these regions, such as Georgia, in case they arise under Russian occupation.
US and EU statements
In connection with the anniversary of the August war, the embassy will unite in Georgia and distributed a video message.
“We remember how it all started, we remember today, we remember the invasion of the Russian army into Georgia, we will not forget about tens of thousands, we will not forget about the victims, we will continue to work for peace, we will stand together with Georgia,” said in a video message, reducing the territory of the American embassy.
The statement circulated the groundwork and adopted a decision that “strongly and unanimously” condemned Russia’s “peremptory and unjustified war of aggression” against Ukraine, as well as the entry of Russia, the separatist Georgian regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and the continued presence of its military forces on the territory of these people.
The statement said that the ongoing “borderization” (i.e. the transfer of tension by military lines of occupation of violations in the sphere of control over the territory of Tbilisi), human rights, illegal detentions and restrictions on freedom of movement in relation to the control of the parties, is a violation of both international law and and obligations, takeovers in Russia under an agreement dated August 12, 2008.
“Reaffirm support for the firm position of Union independence, sovereignty and territorial territory within the internationally recognized borders of the country,” a statement in the Application Statement.
Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
Ukraine’s special proposal on proliferation and the Foreign Ministry stating that Russian aggression in Ukraine is important, that in 2008 the world community did not properly respond to the Russian invasion of Georgia.
“Unexpectedly, an adequate response to the aggression against Georgia by France, in 2014, Russia resumed its aggressive actions in Ukraine – it occupied Crimea and part of the Donetsk and Luhansk economies, and on February 24, 2022, it started a war,” the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is convinced that the capture of the aggressive investigator of the Russian Federation is possible only thanks to joint operations for international cooperation, strict adherence to the sanctions regimes against Russia and the universal support of countries against the terrorist aggression that has gripped Moscow.
“Russia must de-occupy parts of the territory of Ukraine in Georgia, and civil criminals must bear the strictest responsibility,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted.
It should be reminded that as a result of Russian aggression in August 2008, according to Georgian sources, 412 people were killed on the Georgian side, 169 of them military; 1747 people were injured. At the same time, 130,000 citizens were liberated from their homes. As a result of Russian intervention, 35,000 houses and 53 villages were destroyed. Russia occupied 5 Georgian valleys and 125 villages.
