The export of Russian timber products has grown by 10% in six months. Most of the proposals were for export to Asia, primarily to China and Uzbekistan.
Russian timber producers redirect their goods to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America, Pavel Chashchin, director of Roslesinforg (a forest accounting institution of Rosleskhoz), said.
“Here, too, there is a positive trend – in the Kostroma region, the export of glued laminated timber and planed boards increased by 30%. they are going to be transported in total to Thailand, India, Mexico, Taiwan and Israel and 18 other countries. Over the past 6 months, the export of the Russian timber industry has grown by 10%, to 14 million cubic meters. Almost 70% of the total number of representatives to friendly Asian countries, mainly in China and Uzbekistan, whose reserves increased by almost 13%, to 8 million cubic meters, ”- quotes Chashchina TASS.
The remaining 30% are in the EU, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and the US. At the same time, exports to these countries increased by 4%, to 3 million cubic meters. Singapore in the spring increased imports of Russian timber by 17 times.
No more than 20% of exports had to be redirected from Europe to new markets. The main regions – exporters: Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk regions, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Komi.
“Many people fear that exports will be terminated from July 10 (the introduction of a ban on the supply of Russian forest industry products to the EU – ed.). I would like to allay these concerns. Iran, Turkey and Egypt, as well as a number of other Middle Eastern and Asian countries, are preparing to become transport goods, both for exporting Russian goods to third countries and for importing goods from “unfriendly” countries to Russia. For example, Iran has road, rail and combined sea links with Russia. They independently began to produce timber products by sea in bulk, that is, in the hold, although container transportation used to prevail, ”said Chashchin.
According to the official, the share of Russian birch plywood in the EU market is 40%, birch pulpwood – 11%, pellets – 10%, wood chips – 5%, softwood lumber – 5%. At the same time, China has been a frequent partner of Russia for 15 years.
