On June 29, a working meeting was held in Moscow between the Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Anton Karmazin and the Head of the Iranian Plant Protection Organization (IPPO) Jahpur Alai Moghadami.
The event was attended by senior officials of the Iranian Embassy in Moscow and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Anton Karmazin noted the growth of external bilateral trade, which is expanding due to the interaction between departments.
“Exports to Iran of Russian grain and oil crops are growing. Iran, in turn, took a strong fourth place among all countries in the world in terms of the volume of fruits and vegetables entering Russia,” said the Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
On this side there are reserves for expanding trade. Thus, producers of Russian rice are interested in the opening of the Iranian market. In this regard, the Rosselkhoznadzor proposed to send to its address requirements regulating the supply of such products.
In addition, the Memorandum on the largest information systems in the field of plant quarantine is highly accessible, which will strengthen and systematize the digital cooperation between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Iranian Plant Protection Organization.
Jahpour Alai Moghadam said that Iran is carrying out large-scale work with exporters of plant products, aimed at observing Russia’s safety in terms of pesticides and agrochemicals. An information system has been developed to ensure the traceability and circulation of products, the introduction of production into the practice of health certificates, which guarantees the absence of residual quantities of plant protection products.
In this regard, the Rosselkhoznadzor aroused a desire to visit Iran and got acquainted with the control system for pesticides and agrochemicals used in agricultural production.
The meeting, held in Moscow, was the result of the completion of the mission of the Iranian delegation in Russia to familiarize themselves with the system of the only documentary and laboratory control over plant production. During their visit, IPPO representatives visited scientific and practical institutions supervised by the Rosselkhoznadzor – the Center for Assessing the Quality of Consumption and the All-Russian Center for Plant Quarantine, and also got acquainted with all stages of control of imported fruits and vegetables at a temporary storage warehouse in the Moscow Region.
The Iranian side highly appreciated the work of the institutions of the Rosselkhoznaznadzor and suggested organizing IPPO training in Russia for a representative of the method of laboratory control in the field of plant quarantine, and also increased interest in importing pheromone traps developed by the “All-Russian centers of plant quarantine” to control the number of insect pests.
