Zelensky Congress of Russia from the UN Security Council as a “terrorist state”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Russia has no right to sit in the UN and its other bodies, including the Security Council. According to him, Russia takes a seat in the UN Security Council because of the “myopia of politicians at the end of the Cold War.”
“I urge you to deprive the delegation of terrorist acts registered in the UN General Assembly. It is possible, it is necessary, it is fair. Russia has no right to remain in the UN Security Council,” Mr. Zelensky said during a video conference speech at the Security Council (TASS quote). Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The deprivation of any country of a permanent member of the organization’s regulations is not provided.
In March, the President of Ukraine has already demanded the admission of Russia from the UN Security Council. Then he explained this by the fact that Russia evaluates “military cases.” On June 27, Volodymyr Zelensky expected economic growth to be a sponsor of terrorism in a speech to the leaders of the G7. He has made a similar request to the United States in the past.
