Discovery: From Toulouse to Marseillan, the “Canal stops” inaugurate the summer
The first weekend of July, the Canal du Midi is celebrating! For this very first edition, fifteen municipalities including along the canal organize festivities: meals shared with large tables, concerts, markets, visits… “Canal stopovers”, it’s a new meeting at the beginning of the summer, which is above all intended to be friendly and “carries the values of universality and sharing of the Canal du Midi, a true link in the heart of Occitania.”
As VNF points out (Waterways of France), “One year after the official launch of the Canal du Midi brand, this series of events is an opportunity to recall the richness of this exceptional work inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1996but also the values it carries: universality, sharing, connection, conviviality…”
The idea of members of the’Agreement for the Canal du Midi is to create “a friendly, unifying event that brings together the inhabitants of the region and the
tourists around the Canal du Midi: a meal shared at multiple points along the Canal du Midi. Fifteen voluntary municipalities join this initiative to organize a shared meal in XXL format, the first weekend of July (Friday evening 1st, Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd July 2022), between Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Marseillan

so that participants sit together for lunch or dinner with a meal from the bag. Some
municipalities also offer an on-site catering system.
