Players educated in Debrecen returned to the gladiators
Debrecen – Árpád Asztalos and Balázs Gréczy won the U19 silver medal twice with Gladiator. The former can also claim to be a two-time champion in adolescence.
Work has begun under the direction of the new head of the American football team of the University of Debrecen, Ty Rogers. However, the gladiators could already see familiar faces in the first training session. Namely Árpád Asztalos and Balázs Gréczy returned to the DEAC Gladiators. Both are unpolished diamonds of the Debrecen youth training, who have achieved great success in the age groups of gladiators.

The offensive wall will be strengthened by Árpád Asztalos, who became the champion of the adolescent team twice, and won the silver medal in the U19 race against the people of Cívis the same number of times.
He spent the previous season at the White Castle Enthroners, but his heart pulled him back to the DEAC. Árpád Asztalos also studied at the University of Debrecen, where he is a student of the Faculty of Economics.
“I missed the team a lot, and I wanted to get back on track with my old comrades,” said the gladiators. He added that I have a lot of teammates and friends here with whom we have had great success in junior, so reintegration has not been difficult. By the way, last summer he was admitted to the University of Debrecen, so the return was evident. I already had a good time on the first workout, as Coach Rogers didn’t throw me into the deep water right away, but started teaching us the basics.
The name of Balázs Gréczy is also unknown to American football fans in Debrecen. The small but very tenacious runner said goodbye to the team after last year’s adult season as he began his studies in Denmark in the autumn.
However, his calculations did not turn out the way he wanted, so he returned to Debrecen. Balázs Gréczy is a two-time junior silver medalist with the Gladiators, but the big milestone for him came in 2019, when he ran his first touchdown against the Budapest Titans in the first adult match of his life. Last year, it was confirmed that Roják and Richard formed an excellent tandem in a running position. And in the autumn he wants to be a student at the University of Debrecen.
“In Denmark, unfortunately, I couldn’t taste American football so much while studying, but there I also got to know a community that constantly gathers and follows matches. However, I couldn’t find my calculations, so I felt like I had to come home and wanted to go back to my parenting association. It was important now that my good friend Árpád Asztalos came back, because I had just started this sport for him. I am very motivated after our first training, and I think we will have a good chance to win the championship this year – Balázs Gréczy emphasized.
DEAC Gladiators will soon make further announcements to reshape the team’s frame and coaching staff.
