Sullivan: “We are ready for both diplomacy and sanctions with Russia”
United States (US) National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said he was ready for diplomacy with Russia over Ukraine and economic sanctions in case of invasion.
During his daily press conference in the White House, Sullivan assessed the Russia-Ukraine talks in Geneva, Brussels and Vienna.
Sullivan noting that the United States and Russia expressed during the talks, said they made clear the areas where progress could or could not be made.
“The talks were cordial and direct. They have been helpful. These talks have given us and Russia food for thought. After the discussion talks, how will the process continue with our allies.
ready We are for diplomacy to improve the security and stability of the Euro-Atlantic. Likewise, we are ready to respond if Russia chooses another path. We continue to work closely with our partners on the severe economic sanctions that will be imposed in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The territorial United States supports the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. We have clarified to Russia the costs and consequences of a military intervention.
At the moment no new date has been set for the continuation of talks with Russia, however, contacts with our allies and Russia will continue, ”said Jake Sullivan.
