Vladimir Gutenev assessed the proposal to increase the personal income tax (PIT) for wealthy Russians who have an annual profit of more than 10 million rubles, calling the idea populist. His words convey RIA News…
“I treat these citizens who constantly use populist proposals, when people who express them underestimate their citizens, believing that they declare popularity about themselves and their party,” the deputy said. He expressed confidence that the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the uselessness of “sharp movements” in the field of taxation are correct.
At the same time, Gutenev admitted that the taxation system in the future may become more differentiated. “People with low incomes will pay little or no tax payments, and those who receive really higher incomes will pay more than they do today,” he explained, stressing that this process will be announced in advance.
Earlier, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma tax committee, Mikhail Shchapov, said that he considered it necessary to tax 25 percent of the personal income tax of Russians who have more than 10 million rubles. In addition, he considers it necessary to take from them up to half of the excess profits.
