Queen Margrethe: – Opens up about the relationship with the daughters-in-law
This month, the Danish monarch, Queen Margrethe (81), sat on the throne for a full 50 years. She took over the throne from her father, King Frederik, who died on 14 January 1972, and became the new monarch of Denmark.

Together with the late Prince Henrik, she had a son, Crown Prince Frederik (53), and just twelve months later, Prince Joachim (52) was born.
The Crown Prince found love and married Crown Princess Mary (49), born Mary Donaldson. The brother, Prince Joachim, is married to Princess Marie (45), who is originally French.
Strong personalities
In an interview with Danish Picturemagazine opens the queen up about the relationship with her two daughters-in-law. She says that she has a good relationship with both of them and that they handle her roles well.

– They also have a responsibility in that they are part of the chain. They have come in from outside, without preconditions. But I think they both have the right qualities and are good at exploiting them, just as they are also strong personalities individually. And what every mother is happy about is that one’s glorious child receives good support from the time they marry, it sounds from the queen in the interview.
– They make it incredible bra
When asked about the daughters-in-law’s contribution to the Danish royal family, she answers the following:
– They are part of a married couple and thus part of a company, where they support each other and support the task each of them has. And I think they make amazing bras. I am very happy to have them as my daughters-in-law.
The royal houses’ biggest scandals
The Queen hopes she is not an overly intimidating mother-in-law to Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie.
– But I do not know if I’m the best in the world. But they have no one else, the queen replies at last.
Met in Australia
Crown Prince Frederik fell in love during the 2000 Olympics in Australia with Mary Donaldson, who had moved from Tasmania to Sydney. The relationship developed and ended with a wedding on May 14, 2004. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess have four children.
It is their eldest son, Prince Christian (16), who becomes King of Denmark after his grandmother and father.
After the divorce from Alexandra, Prince Joachim again found success with French Marie Cavallier. The couple gave each other their “yes” on May 24, 2008 in Møgeltønder church. Later they have two children together and the prince has two grown sons from his previous marriage.
