News, Culture & entertainment | Won prestigious award
– Kenneth Karlstad, author of Kids in Crime, has received the Nordic Drama Screenplay Award 2023, it says in a press release which was sent out at the same time that Karlstad himself received the message during an award ceremony during the Gothenburg Film Festivals today, Wednesday 1 February.
The Nordisk Film & TV Foundation award for best screenplay is a prestigious award.
– For the seventh year in a row, the prize for outstanding writing of a Nordic drama series was awarded on TV Drama Vision.
The jury justified the choice of Kenneth Karlstad as follows:
“The jury is grateful for the opportunity to see and read series from all over the Nordics. We have based our evaluation on three main criteria: craftsmanship, relevance and originality. The winner has it all. It is based on a true universe from a certain time. The authenticity, honesty, brutality and friendship drive the story and engage the audience. Novelty, details, music, everything is in the script! The author really owns the story.»
This year’s jury consisted of Amanda Collin, actress, Denmark; Nebojša Taraba, producer, Croatia; Wanda Bendjelloul, journalist and critic, Sweden; Leif Holst Jensen, producer and dean of the Faculty, TV and Games, Innland University College, Norway.
Kenneth Karlstad personally receives DKK 200,000, financed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Karlstad debuted with the short film The Hunger, which in 2019 won him a Young Director Award in Cannes. Kids in Crime is his feature debut.
