Rail – Hanover – construction sites disruptive rail traffic in the new year – economy
Hanover (dpa / lni) – train drivers & be prepared for failures and longer travel times due to construction sites again in 2022. In Lower Saxony, the Hanover-Hamburg connection is particularly affected. Work on tracks, switches, bridges and platforms will take place there from May 31 to October 1, as announced by Deutsche Bahn. From June 11 to September 23, part of the long-distance traffic on this route will be diverted via Rotenburg / Wümme and Verden without stopping, which will increase the journey time by around 20 minutes. The ICEs from Stralsund via Hamburg and Hanover to Karlsruhe will no longer be available on the Stralsund-Hanover route during the construction period.
There will also be amenities on the Hamburg-Bremen-Osnabrück connection. Track and switch work between Scheeßel (Rotenburg district) and Vehre (Osnabrück district) is planned there from February 7th to April 18th. The local transport lines RS2 of the Nordwest-Bahn and RE78 from Keolis will be temporarily canceled on parts of the route. Long-distance traffic is affected by diversions.
Construction work is also planned at the most important transport hub in Hanover from the beginning of April to the beginning of June, although this should only affect local transport. Commuters & especially on the S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S4, S5, S21 and S51 expect cancellations on sections of the route.
Deutsche Bahn advises travelers to obtain current construction site and timetable information via the app or website. The company times emphasizes that the construction work and – would be planned in such a way that the impact on traffic is as low as possible. However, longer travel times or closures with replacement rail services could not always be avoided.
