EODY: Greece, among the 6 countries of the new Special Group on Health
His amended order ECDC recently published includes its creation European Health Work Power (EUHTF), to be established and coordinated by ECDC in collaboration with European Commissionits member states EU/EEA and international organizations.
This fact clearly underlines the fact that health challenges are here to stay, as well as the need for a wider European coalition on public health issues.
ECDC is setting up a working group to support and advise on the position of its terms of reference EUHTF, operation and working conditions. The EUHTF will provide support to EU/EEA Member States, partner countries and international organizations for early preparedness and emergency response during impacts and crises.
After a nomination and voting process in which all EU member states participated, Greece – through the National Public Health Organization and the President Prof. Theoklis Zaoutis – was chosen to join the six member states of the Working Group (EUHTF). The European Task Force on Health (EUHTF) was established following the launch of the Health Summit last December 2020. The European Health Task Force is a ‘tool’ comprising industry leaders, policy makers and experts.
Its purpose is to promote EU health policy through high-level meetings with working groups as well as public consultations. The aim is not only to create a larger healthcare network, but also to be able to guide the policy-making process at the level.
