Two figures depict the artist’s sons. The nativity scene will be exhibited in the church until February 2 next year.
The nativity scene in the church was built by parishioners at the end of Advent. “The nativity scene is difficult to prepare because it is along the entire length of the church. It consists of very large figures up to a meter high. Most nativity scenes have figures about thirty centimeters in size. Other attractions of the largest nativity scene are two figurines bearing the apples of Santa Claus, which depict the sons of the author of the nativity scene, “said Roman Kubín from the Brno diocese.

The cribs of the nativity scene remain empty until midnight on Christmas Eve. “The figure of the Baby Jesus is traditionally put into them by the main celebrant until the beginning of the midnight mass,” Kubín added.
The wooden nativity scene was created for forty years. Jaroslav Vaněk from Brno started building it in 1949. Nine years ago, it was restored by Zdeněk Mayer. The gem will remain in the church in the center of Brno until the Feast of Groundhog Day, when Christians celebrate the Presentation of the Lord to the Church.
