Bart De Wever on Brussels police that does not intervene in cinemas: “We will act effectively in Antwerp” (Antwerp)
For the time being, cinemas in Brussels have opened up against the corona measures on Sunday. In Antwerp men do intervene at halls.
“Since the start of the corona crisis, supralocal measures have been created in Antwerp,” says Johan Vermant, mayor of Bart De Wever (N-VA). “The current legal framework is clear about the sectors that should be closed. So the local police will like that.”

Berx: “But yes in case of excesses”
“On Christmas Eve we received an email from the National Crisis Center, which I immediately forwarded to the mayors of Antwerp,” says Antwerp governor Cathy Berx. “It contains the call to monitor the consistent changes to the measures according to the Decree. The zones follow everything closely with a lot of patrols. There were no significant problems yet. The presence and deployment clearly preventive. And most people also and meticulously do what is affirmed and really required.”
“What I always do with a related problem is contact the mayor to see what’s going on, and then discuss what needs to be done. But if there will be laws, then the police will be formed.”
What if something like the one in Brussels happened, where local changes don’t have time to say they don’t act? “I am not responsible for Brussels, but as I said, I would always consult the mayor first.”
