The relatives of the miners who died in the accident at Listvyazhnaya in the Kemerovo Region opposed the closure of the mine. On the residents of Kuzbass who refused to terminate the work of the enterprise told Acting head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Chupriyan in an interview with RBC.

“At a meeting with the family of the victims, we asked them: do you want the mine to continue working or are we closing it? All unanimously said that the mine must work. In Kuzbass it is at the genetic level, ”Chupriyan explained.
According to him, Russia needs coal, but the country is even more interested in keeping the miners alive.
The acting head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also approves of working with risk, all participants have an iron production discipline. In the case of coal mines, it is necessary to monitor the concentration of methane, and not create the appearance of checks, he said.
Chupriyan said that in Listvyazhnaya, mine rescuers are pumping water – there are about 20 thousand tons of water in the mine. In addition, they restore the operation of mine equipment.
A methane explosion in the Listvyazhnaya mine in the town of Belovo, Kemerovo Region, took place on the morning of November 25. As a result, 51 people died, among the five mine rescuers who went in search of miners. 106 people were injured. One of the rescuers, Aleksandr Zakovryashin, who was considered dead, did not manage to leave the mine – he went to the rescuers himself the day after the emergency. The Russian said that he managed to get out thanks to a stream of fresh air from the surface.
