TASTING OF FUTURE CONSTRUCTIONS
The area of Wenceslas Square, Florence and Central Station will be exciting to watch in the coming years. These places will change completely. Reconstruction of Wenceslas Square has already begun. Our most important square is also waiting for the return of trams. Florence will be a modern city district. In front of Hlavák will not be Sherwood, but a new park with a tram stop right in front of the entrance. And we have the base ready – renewed tracks in Opletalov and a new stop. But we will use them much sooner. It will serve as an alternative rail transport when we start repairing the ceiling slab at the Florenc station.
Tens of thousands of passengers move at Central Station every day. It is an important transport hub not only for Prague but also for the whole Czech Republic. The future track here has huge potential. It is definitely one of the most important that we are preparing. It will facilitate tight traffic in the center of Prague in Jindřišská and Vodičkova streets. It will ensure a direct connection of the largest railway station in the Czech Republic to the tram network, as was the case in the past, and connects Vinohrady and two train stations in the center, Hlavní and Masarykovo.
We have more of these “tastings” of important railway constructions. Among them is the nearby Museum Oasis with dormitories already ready for the future connection of Vinohradská with Wenceslas Square. After last year’s reconstruction of Nádražní, we have finished connecting the Dvorecký Bridge on the left bank of the Vltava. And you can also mention the commissioned tram line between the Pražského povstání and Pankrác stations. We want to extend it to the post office and ideally continue on to Budějovická, if we agree with the city district.
