Foreign Ministry says Russia appreciates Kim Jong Il’s contribution to bilateral relations – Politics
MOSCOW, December 15. / TASS /. Russia highly appreciates the success in strengthening ties with the DPRK in the leadership of Kim Jong Il and aims to further develop relations between Moscow and Pyongyang. This was announced on Wednesday by Georgy Zinoviev, Director of the First Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Highly appreciating past successes, we look to the future with hope. Embassy of the Republic on the 10th anniversary of the death of Kim Jong Il. According to him, the former leader of the DPRK had deep respect for Russia and visited it three times.
The event took place with the participation of Russian representatives and the Republican Party of Sinon Chhola. The diplomat approved that regarding the current leadership, Kim Jong-un supports the ideas of his father with regard to relations with the Russian Federation. Confirmation of this is his visit to Vladivostok and a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in April 2019.
“The position of our party and government on the further development of traditional relations with Russia at a higher level by consistently achieving the top leaders of the two countries achieved at the historic meeting remains unchanged. the friendship between the DPRK and the Russian Federation will steadily continue in the future, “the ambassador said.
According to the official historiography of the People’s Republic, Kim Jong Il died on December 17, 2011 as a result of a heart attack during another inspection trip around the country in the carriage of his special train. Currently, a transparent sarcophagus with its embalmed body is installed in the Kumsusan memorial complex. He was posthumously awarded the country’s highest military rank of Generalissimo.
