Brno’s effort: he wants a direct train to Vienna Airport in an hour and a half
Brno Transport Councilor Petr Kratochvíl has already addressed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vienna Airport, Julian Jäger. They talked about a direct train from Brno with stops in Břeclav and at the main railway station in Vienna. The aim is to ensure a direct train connection between Brno and the airport in an hour and a half. “It was a beneficial connection on the outskirts of the day with the early morning departure of the train from Brno as a late evening departure of the train from Vienna Airport,” the councilor outlined.
Representatives of the South Moravian Region are also in favor of the idea. “We haven’t discussed it at the regional council yet, but as soon as we do, I will support it. It’s a good idea, “Regional Transport Councilor Jiří Crha told Deník Rovnost.

In the case of a direct connection, people will get to a place where they can travel to different countries of the world in a short time.
South Moravians can travel at Vienna Airport by train from Brno now. Railjets operated in cooperation with Czech Railways and Austrian Federal Railways run in a two-hour interval. But people have to change trains at Vienna Central Station. “And this is complicated and time-consuming for passengers, especially with luggage,” Vaňková said.
Vienna Airport is an alternative to the Brno one for South Moravians. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year it will manage with a loss of five to ten million crowns.

The airport in Tuřany handled a total of 176,811 passengers in the summer, for example, which is more than three times as much as last year. “But we are still only at forty-four percent of the record season of 2019. We now estimate the number of passengers handled in 2021 at almost 190,000,” said Milan Kratina, chairman of the board of Brno Airport, last week.
The situation in the aviation market remains unstable and unpredictable. However, the representatives of Brno Airport are still trying to bring new regular flights to Brno in cooperation with the city and the region. “The South Moravian Region has set up a financing system for the airport’s launch. And we are ready to help with the support of specific lines for passenger transport as soon as the situation allows, “said President Jan Grolich recently.
