Debrecen – The partly online meeting also discussed the strategy of the Hungarian cluster and the operation of the Pharmapolis Debrecen Innovative Pharmaceutical Cluster. According to Éva Skultéti, the managing director of the latter, this type of organization is one of the most important elements of economic development.
The Pharmapolis Debrecen Innovative Pharmaceutical Cluster was established in 2008. In the last 13 years, it has involved several companies in its operations, including the county chamber of commerce and industry, several small and medium-sized enterprises in Budapest and Hajdú-Bihar.
Gedeon Richter participates in the work of the cluster, but Atomki, the Debrecen Asset Management and the University of Debrecen are also important partners.
The areas of the cluster are the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
– We can project university factories, production plants operating at a very high technological level, such as the National Vaccine Factory. Universities don’t usually get here on their own, said Zoltán Szilvássy, rector of the University of Debrecen.
Experts discussed the results of Pharmapolis and the strategy of the Hungarian KLA at an international conference on Tuesday, in a different type of hybrid, partly in attendance and partly online. Issues related to the development and operation of thematic clusters, pharmaceutical and health services were also discussed. According to Éva Skultéti, one of the most important elements of economic development is cluster organization.
– As long as entrepreneurs work in a cluster, they are much better able to work as an umbrella organization with the help of a cluster-managed company than without it. The chamber and the cluster organizations complement each other very well, this was also recognized by the political decision-makers – said the managing director of Pharmapolis Klaszter Kft.
Balázs Greinstetter joined the meeting online. The Undersecretary of State in the Treasury Department is talking about new challenges due to climate change and the coronavirus, so new directions need to be set. The aim is to create as many clusters in Hungary as possible, so that they can later join international or even overseas cooperation.
