Portugal hosts U-15 and U-19 table tennis worlds – DNOTICIAS.PT
Between the 2nd and the 8th of December, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal will host the U-15 and U-19 world table tennis championships, “the first major world competition for youth teams” since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic.
The competition will bring together athletes from all continents, who will compete in the team variants, singles and pairs (male and female) and mixed pairs.
Portugal will be represented by a total of 16 athletes, who will participate in all competitions at all levels, with emphasis on the Madeira ‘armada’ composed of athletes Gonçalo Gomes (CD 1º de Maio) and Tiago Li (CD São) Roque) who will compete in the under-19 division and coach Ricardo Faria who will be in charge of the under-15 team.
The under-19 team is composed of the following athletes: David Bessa (CTM Lagos), Gonçalo Gomes (CD 1º de Maio), Silas Monteiro (AR Novelense), Tiago Li (CD São Roque), Inês Matos (Boa Hora FC), Inês Gonçalves (CTM Mirandela), Inês Salgado (CTM Mirandela) and Patrícia Santos (Sporting CP).
The under-15 team has the following players: Bernardo Pinto (CTM Mirandela), Rafael Kong (CTM Mirandela), Rafael Silva (GDCCAAA Guilhabreu), Tiago Abiodun (Sporting CP), Mariana Costa (AR Canidelo), Mariana Rodrigues (Boa Hora FC), Mariana Santa Comba (CTM Mirandela) and Matilde Pinto (CTM Mirandela).
