In Russia, the detention of Danchenko was considered “pure politics”: Politics: Russia: Lenta.ru
The detention of Russian analyst Igor Danchenko in the United States has political overtones. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexey Mukhin in a conversation with REN TV…
According to him, the current situation is paradoxical and at the same time very symptomatic for the United States. Mukhin that the American side needs an evidentiary base, to blame the ex-US President Donald Trump or Russia. At the same time, they “actually have no evidence, so they fabricate it.” “And now they imitate legal activity in order to bring at least a meaningful basis for the policy that they are pursuing,” he said. Such activity is not related to the legal part, but is “pure politics”, the expert said.
Mukhin also said that if Danchenko hired good lawyers, it would be one of the most shameful trials in US history. Otherwise, the analyst’s fate is “regrettable,” he notes.
On November 4, it became known that Danchenko, who took part in the investigation of the alleged ties of former US President Donald Trump with Russia, was arrested in the United States. The Russian was charged with perjury to the FBI. According to the US Department of Justice, in the period from June to November 2017, a Russian analyst allegedly reported incorrect information to the FBI five times, clarifying information about the source of the information he passed on.
