Andy Murray contains his last ATP title in Antwerp and speaks about Kim Clijsters
Andy Murray is looking forward to the European Open, because Antwerp has great memories.
In 2019, the 34-year-old Murray beat the Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the final of the European Open in Antwerp. On Tuesday evening he will play against the American Frances Tiafoe (ATP 48) in Antwerp. “My victory in Antwerp was my best memory of 2019,” Murray said in a press chat.
“That overall victory was unexpected, given all the injuries I had endured at the time. I’ve won bigger tournaments in my career, but Antwerp was one of the hardest titles to win. It was a long, hard road, and I have fond memories of it. My form at the moment is not good at all, but maybe I have a little more confidence now.”
Kim Clijsters said a while ago that Andy Murray thought of her to make a comeback. “I find that a bit bizarre. I saw her play when I was 17, in 2004 I think that was. And I saw her play again recently. She still hits a ball in the same fantastic way. She needs more matches and can improve physically, but I’m sure she can still win games at the highest level.”
