CAW Antwerp and Kringwinkel collect 700 pieces of warm clothing and sleeping bags for the homeless | Antwerp
In December, the Antwerp Kringwinkels launched a call from their customers to help ensure a ‘warm winter’. In addition to sleeping bags and backpacks, as in recent years, she now also collects warm clothing, such as hats, scarves, gloves, thick winter coats, fleece sweaters and everyday clothing. This year’s collection was another success story. In total, more than 700 items were collected: 350 pieces of warm clothing, more than 300 accessories (such as hats, scarves and gloves), about 120 sleeping bags and 15 backpacks.
The clothing and sleeping bags were delivered in between by the two night shelter locations of CAW Antwerp. “Thanks to the repeated nature of the campaign, we know that we can count on warm stuff every year,” says Britt Verbruggen of CAW Antwerp. “Homeless people spend the night in the shelter. They can get a meal in the morning and evening and there are sanitary facilities. In addition, the virtually all help and service questions are ready to answer all questions and reach the visitors. In any case, the sleeping bags and clothing provide some extra warmth for these people.”
