In the regions of Russia, control over observance of the mask regime has been tightened, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, at the synchronized presidium of the coordination council under the government of the Russian Federation to combat the spread of coronavirus. Popova said that to counter the spread of COVID-19, the governors, together with the chief sanitary doctors, took a number of measures. In addition to strengthening control over the wearing of masks, in 64 regions restrictive measures have been introduced for persons over 65 years old. Thus, in dozens of regions, a QR code system was introduced at cultural, entertainment and sports events, as well as in catering establishments and sports events.
“And in order to increase vaccination coverage in 38 regions, resolutions have been adopted … on attracting categories of citizens who are decreed categories to vaccinations, have great contact with people, with consumers of services,” added the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
Over the past day, 28,190 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Russia. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 7,832,964. The daily rate has renewed the record – as of October 12, it is 973.
