Men’s Basketball NB I: Egyptian DEAC defeat at the Oil Home
Szolnok – There was a chance for the feat all the time, but after three winning meeks, the victory in Debrecen did not come together.
The DEAC-Tungsram basketball team lost one point in the 4th round of the Tippmix men’s NB I championship in Szolnok.
With 16 points, Xavier Thames was one of the best in DEAC
Throughout the extremely undulating clash, the University of Debrecen had a chance to win, but at the last minute the Oil Miner was more concentrated.
The people of Debrecen, who started the championship with three victories, visited the silver medalist of the previous competition, the Oil Miner of Szolnok, in the standings of the weekday round. The meeting started with Badzim’s three-pointer, who responded to the DEAC with three penalties from Tóth and a triple from Thames. In the jump, the baskets fell alternately, but as expected, both guards tried to play a controlled game. Aska, who got off the bench well in the middle of the quarter, scored two baskets, but the host kept up with Rogics’ three-pointer (14-14). The center of Debrecen was also very active in the jump, but despite the fact that the people of Hajdúság came four points away, the Oil Miner equalized with Kovács’ two distances in the quarter. The game ended in a penalty for Drenovac, allowing the team to go for the first short break with a 22-21 guest lead.
Szolnok quickly reversed by bagging Taiwo, and they were already four points ahead with Cummings’ triple. Ádám Tóth equalized with two close-ups in the blink of an eye, but after a bad move Milenko Topics was forced to replace him (26-26). Luckily, there wasn’t much trouble, but the tall man didn’t take the pitch by half time. At halfway through the quarter, Szolnok re-entered with two quick starts, but the DEAC-Tungsram did not let go, two minutes later, with the nice pass of Dzeletovics, the people of Cívisváros took the lead again (34-36). The Olajbányászlak had an answer to this as well, the last minutes of the half were very depressed, and they were able to march into the locker room with a six-point bar corresponding to their 9-1 rush.
After the turn With Cummings’ double and Fatty’s three-pointers, the difference soon gained double-digit, but the DEAC did not collapse, and Tóth achieved catching up. Lapornik and Thames sold a zigzag each, after a triple thrown from Drenovac’s ideas from afar and a nice break-in, there were only two left between them, Potocsnik was forced to ask for hours (50-48). The momentum of the Polyák family broke, and under the leadership of Rogics, the host found himself again, and thanks to their hard defense, only a basket from Debrecen was born in four minutes, so the scoreboard showed 59-50 before the final act.
The last ten minutes were opened by Lapornik’s triple, which Kovács immediately answered with a double. Topics switched to a high structure, sending the duo Tóth-Aska, barely seen in the previous rounds, for deployment at the same time, which proved to be a noticeably good decision. With Thames’ baskets, the DEAC closed at one point, which was still answered by Pongó with a triple, but Drenovac’s two triples in a row were again advantageous to the guests after a long time (64-66). Subotics took Szolnok back, and Thames was very active on the Debrecen side, so the identity of the leader changed by almost a percentage.
One and a half minutes before the end, Kovács sold his penalties, which Jeletovics responded with a triple, so sixty seconds the clock was not decided yet (76-75). From the next attack, Cakarun’s heavy mid-distance found his way into the ring, and after a failed attack in Debrecen, Rogics also threw one of his penalties, so despite Lapornik’s last-second triple, the meeting was finally won by the Tisza parties by one point.
