1. FC Köln can look forward to a fast full hut in the derby against Bayer Leverkusen. The club expects 48,300 spectators for the prestigious game in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion
Cologne. (Fast) full hut in the derby! 1. FC Köln can again plan against Bayer Leverkusen (Sunday, October 17, 3:30 p.m.) with more spectators than last.
After 40,000 fans against Greuther Fürth (3: 1), 48,300 spectators are likely to be left in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion in a prestigious comparison with the rival. According to EXPRESS information, the club has even submitted an application to the authorities for 50,000 viewers (full capacity) with 2G. While FC Bayern Munich is already allowed to use 2G or 3G + (PCR test), for example, according to the current NRW Corona Protection Ordinance, “only” 48,300 are currently allowed.
“I would actually like to have full capacity with 50,000 spectators, but even so, it is the next step towards normality,” says FC managing director Alexander Wehrle (46). The final confirmation should take place on Thursday.
1. FC Köln won the two most recent duels against Bayer Leverkusen in front of a full house
Means: (Fast) full fan power against the Werkself! That is also a good omen. Because while the ghost derby last season was lost 4-0, FC won the two most recent duels in front of a full house with 2-0. Anyway, the FC is much easier with the rut-like wall in the back.
While there were hardly any home wins without fans, not even in the relegation against Holstein Kiel, it is much easier for the Baumgart-Elf to score with spectators. With fans, the Rhein-Energie-Stadion is finally a fortress again. Three wins and one draw (against the Champions League club RB Leipzig) make the FC currently the second best home team after BVB. Crazy: Last season Cologne only got three threesomes in Müngersdorf.

“Every time we play at home, the atmosphere is incredible, we like that. Even when we were 1-0 down, they pushed us, it’s a good team,” said double-goal scorer Ellyes Skhiri (26) after the 3: 1 win against Greuther Fürth. Against the team of the hour from the other side of the Rhine, FC will be able to use their twelfth man well.
