City Council of Prague 5 JUDr. On Saturday, September 25, Petr Lachnit opened the twenty-third year of the SENIOR-KA international chess tournament. This chess tournament is a reminder of International Senior Day, which came on October 1.
International Senior Day was declared by Kofi Annan, then Secretary-General of the United Nations, for the first time on October 1, 1998. International Senior Day is a celebration of all that old people bring to society. However, it also draws attention to the problems they face, such as their abuse.
We also commemorate an important day with the long-term organizers of the tournament, ie the staff of the Center for Social and Nursing Assistance in Prague 5, because most of their services are focused on helping the elderly.
International chess tournament under the auspices of Councilor JUDr. Petr Lachnit is played at Smíchov City Hall, the Swiss system, 7 rounds, 2×20 minutes. The tournament was attended by 59 players. Women over the age of fifty and men over the age of sixty, regardless of chess titles and registration.
The best players in the first three places in all four categories were awarded. The main prize is the Traveling Cup of the Center for Social and Nursing Assistance in Prague 5. Miloš Vrabec became the absolute winner of this year’s SENIOR-KY in Smíchov.
