Unique greenhouses opened in Brno ‘s Lužánky Company News Brněnská Drbna
Today, unique reconstructed greenhouses are opening to the public in a predominantly Brno park. New polytechnic and science workshops were established on the site of the original greenhouses and will serve children and adults under the auspices of the Lužánky Leisure Center.
The original greenhouses have had their place in the oldest and most Brno park Lužánky for seventy years. Their reconstruction started at the beginning of 2019, when the buildings were razed to the ground and new greenhouses began to grow on the spot, intended primarily for educational programs.
Reconstruction in the listed Lužánky included preserving the floor plan of the original buildings. “Previously, two separate and separate greenhouses are now combined into one space, although it is internally separated. Technologies that support sustainability and ecology are also new. “ described by the project leader Kateřina Děkaníková. The new greenhouses have a partially green roof and the water is heated in them with the help of solar energy.
The commissioning of the space, which was originally planned for early 2020, was postponed by the coronavirus epidemic, and the ceremonial opening took place only today. As the preparation of polytechnic workshops is almost over, science classrooms are still being reconstructed. However, even this will not stop the lecturers from leading various breeding, growing or craft circles for the youngest as early as this school year. On weekdays, greenhouses will find use for activities with children, on weekends they will offer courses for adults.
“The main goal of the reconstruction was to connect polytechnic and science classrooms, ie the care of flowers and animals with craft skills, so that not only children learn to think project-oriented and can try everything in one place.” described the reconstruction of the spokesperson of the leisure center Kristýna Kolibová. The original greenhouses also had to go to the ground due to the ever-worsening technical condition, which led to high operating costs.
