The post office in Řepy has finally opened, the packages are transported there on a roller coaster
The post office in Prague’s Řepy has been standing since 1994, but the original premises no longer met current obligations. The capacity of the hall for the public was insufficient and people had to squeeze in it. The space in the parcel warehouse was also small. Waiting times have also increased significantly. Branch number 618 is located in other shopping centers of OC Řepy at the tram and bus stop. When entering, it is obvious at first glance that the space is much more open, more pleasant and more light penetrates into it.
“Post offices in shopping malls are a step as we get closer, they will take care of everything they need in one place. This philosophy has already proved itself to us at more than 50 branches, which are located in similar shopping centers, “said the director of the Czech Post, Roman Knap. Which before the reconstruction the branch had six counters, today it has more from two. Four are universal, two of them have a Czech POINT service, as well as one specialized bank counter and a counter with a discreet box, enabling cash transactions in an enclosed space.
A novelty is the connection of bale partitions to the roller conveyor leading to the warehouse. “It’s not just about the design, but also about the background and the way of service. The call system also works on another principle. When the customer goes for the package, he enters the code from the SMS, the package leaves the package warehouse along the roller coaster and the customer picks it up directly at the counter, “Knap described. Employees also received better facilities. The premises are common air conditioning, the manager’s office now allows direct communication with the client.
Almost 24,000 people live in the territory of Prague 17, they had to commute elsewhere for postal services. “A year’s break, when our part of the city was without a post office, was a difficult test for us. Instead of strengthening the delivery team, the number of employees was low and was carried away by the citizens of Řep, “said the mayor of the city district, Alena Kopejtková (ODS).
The work lasted about a year. The total cost of the reconstruction, including equipment, was 15 million crowns. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon.
“Further reconstructions of branches are planned in Prague. But we will not disturb any, the stratification is sufficient, it is only necessary to increase the capacity and adjust the operation so that the facilities are more efficient and faster and people are served faster, “added Knap. The first to arrive is the post office in Petřiny, but the date of the work has not yet been determined.
